President's Message

Leeanne Koeneman
Dear Members and Industry Partners,

I hope you have enjoyed some down time during these summer months after a long and tumultuous year full of change, challenge and more change. I applaud you all for your passion, devotion and care given to our students as we all strive to move forward and put COVID-19 in our past.

The ISNA Executive Board is very happy to announce that the 2021 ISNA Annual Conference is on schedule to be held October 27-29, 2021 at the Grand Wayne Convention Center in my hometown of Fort Wayne, IN. We are excited to be planning an in-person meeting, and have a wonderful line up of education as well as fun networking opportunities in store for you! Ervin Watson will be the opening keynote speaker on Wednesday afternoon, Jon Colby will lead us in an innovative workshop that will bring operators and Industry together on Thursday, AND Gerry Brooks will be with us on Friday to open and close the day! Who better to make light of the last year than Gerry Brooks! ISNA along with the Grand Wayne representatives, will continue to monitor health and safety protocols and follow any state and local guidelines to ensure that we are doing our best to provide a great experience for attendees in October! SAVE THE DATE! The Professional Development Team, President Elect, Stacie Light and our Executive Director, Sheri Shipp continue to work tirelessly to offer the most pertinent education sessions and speakers for your enjoyment. If the success of the first EVER ISNA School Nutrition and Industry Summit is any indication of how professional development events in 2021 will fare, then I would suggest that you register for EVERYTHING! The summit, held in Plainfield on June 8th and 9th left school nutrition operators & Industry partners wanting more! I heard positive comments about how wonderful it was to be back in-person again learning, networking and catching up on current waivers, guidelines, food items and equipment.

Be sure to check out the upcoming ISNA/IDOE School Nutrition Certificate Program courses to be offered October 8th and also as a Pre-Conference event on October 27th in Fort Wayne. What a great way to expand your knowledge and advance your career all while earning necessary Professional Development hours. I truly thank each one of you for your time and dedication this school year. I hope to see you at the ISNA Annual Conference to personally give you the credit that is due. It is going to be a great conference full of opportunity and laughs. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months!

The ISNA Executive Board and I thank you for your patience and grace during this difficult time and look forward to seeing you all soon!
